Montana’s nickname is “Treasure State,” from the Spanish words Oro y Plata meaning “gold and silver.” Pioneers were driven by a vision and a passion to journey to Montana over a hundred years ago to strike it rich and claim a new land. Many sacrificed their lives and paid a price for these temporal and perishable treasurers that have no eternal value.
Today, there is a new pioneer spirit emerging in the 21st century. God-called men and women are making the journey to stake a claim in reaching Montanans with the gospel. Nearly a million people live in fifty-six counties over 146,000 square miles across Montana.
To date Southern Baptists have reached less than 1% of our population, and more than 90% of Montana’s people are lost and without Christ. We desire that they have an opportunity to discover the greatest treasure of all, Jesus Christ.
We are praying (Luke 10:2b) and God is calling out laborers “from” and “for” the harvest—those who will serve in this choice mission field to start over 50 new churches.
Many of these new churches will be centered around our City Reach Initiative—AA Strategy that is focused on the seven largest cities in Montana that represents over 65% of the population of the State.
God is raising up new bread of missional leaders who are “fishers of men”. These men and women are passionate about making disciples of first-generation followers of Christ. They are leaders who are willing to pay a price to reach the harvest, and seek who will help bring, by God’s favor, revival to the West.
Listed are the names of these new spiritual pioneers. They need partners like you who share their vision and pioneer spirit and will pray fervently, come and participate with them through mission projects, and help resource them and the church start for several years.
God is moving across Montana in a fresh new way. Will you join Him? Please prayerfully consider becoming a partner in the harvest by adopting a new church plant or becoming part of a church planting team.
