Expedition In Church Planting Process
|
|
1. Expedition In Montana This phase of the process requires an expedition. Church Planting is all about relationships so this phase is highly relational. As a candidate you will begin to connect relationally within our various missionaries, planters, their spouses and the culture.
You will access in-network planters, their wives and missionaries to hear their “God” stories and learn from them. This possibly begins the process of perhaps you beginning a coaching/mentoring relationship with an experienced planter or missionary.
If you are not living in Montana we would recommend a field visit with your family to our state. Please schedule dates with us so we can make your trip fruitful and align the right connections. This is a great time to take the expedition to scout out communities to exegete the culture and begin to access how your cost of living matches the cost of living in certain communities.
We serve as brokers and do have resources and tools to use to gather data and connect with the appropriate people.
We would recommend before you arrive from out of state to do the following:
- Secure dates of your trip and share with us so we can work with you to maximize your expedition.
- Check out appropriate Montana web sites to understand the layout of Montana.
- Some in exploring the call to plant and the culture of Montana are left with three important questions:
1) Am I called to church planting?
2) Is this the right place or where do I plant? and
3) Do I have the skill sets and
competencies to plant? To help answer these questions we
offer internships and a residency called Elevate to help
answer these three questions.
2. Assessment To PlantWhen you travel to Montana this may be a good time for us to conduct the 4 hour
behavioral assessment for you and your spouse. This assessment offers a picture of your present reality
of where you are in terms of your behaviors in ministry to date. We use this tool to assess your readiness
and to use to develop your strengths and assess areas you will need to grow intentionally in through
having a coach/mentor. Discuss with us the value of this step during this stage of the process.
