 God's Field, Our Frontier

The Mission Field

"After this, the Lord appointed 70 others, and He sent them ahead of Him in pairs to every town and place where He himself was about to go." (Luke 10:1 HCSB, italics added)

Montana is the fourth-largest state in the United States geographically, yet fewer than one million people live here. Forty percent live in seven cities - - Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Great Falls, Helena, Kalispell, and Missoula - - where they enjoy competitive business opportunities, regional medical facilities, college and university communities, and historical and cultural centers.

However, the majority of Montana's residents live outside those cities, often in isolated and remote places, scattered on multi-thousand-acre ranches and farms where their nearest neighbor is miles away or situated in very small towns with few amenities and a struggling local economy.

Montanans are hard-working, salt-of-the-earth folk who live off the land and appreciated the great outdoors. With over 13,000 family-owned ranches, agriculture is the cornerstone of Montana's economy. Other Montanans work in the forestry, mining and transportation industries. Also, tourism is a growing business, as vacationers from outside Montana flood the state each year to take advantage of the beauty and the bounty of our natural environment.
