New Student and Volunteer Missions Coordinators for Montana

The Montana
Southern Baptist Convention office announced this month the appointment
of two new coordinators for mission work across the state.
Rhonda
Mendiolaza will be functioning as the Volunteer Missions Coordinator.
The responsibilities of this position will include: managing a system
for promoting mission
 needs
throughout the state; coordinating out-of-state mission teams with
churches and groups in the field.
When asked
what she would like to see for the future of mission teams in Montana,
Rhonda said, “I would like to make churches more aware that they are not
on their own, that there are groups interested in coming and helping. I
would also like to assist Montana churches with forming a network of
volunteer team resources to bring folks here as well as sending Montana
church groups to where the needs are... to show them that they can help
too.”
Rhonda is
planning on leading a mission team this summer to Guadalajara, Mexico.
Jessica
Crusch is taking on the role of Student Missions Coordinator. As such,
she will be coordinating student missionaries - both summer and
semester, organizing the appropriate orientations, and functioning as
the go-between for the missionaries and their host churches and the
North American Mission Board.
Jessica
hopes that “Montana Pastors will be able to connect with BCM’s (Baptist
Collegiate Ministries) across the nation, to fill the need for summer
missionaries. Partnering with BCM Directors and giving them a heart for
Montana.” She added that recruitment for summer or semester missionaries
for 2009 begins this June, and that the cut-off date for requests is
August 1.
Jessica has
served as a summer missionary, working in Helena with Dave Howeth and
Sam Brown. As such, she has first hand experience with summer missions,
and the requirements for summer missionaries.
Pam Smith
had this to say about Rhonda and Jessica, “I am excited to work
alongside these two very capable women and look forward to the growth of
student and volunteer missions as avenues through which we, Montana
Southern Baptists send churches on mission.”
